8/30/11 - A YEAR!!!!!

I MADE IT A YEAR!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe I am writing my year marker blog post but I can't tell you how good it feels to have made it and be on time with all of my posts! It's so fulfilling to have set such a long term goal and to have actually been successful. It's weird to think about where I was a year ago and what I have done since then. I know that being young means that things come fast but man, things really do change faster than you can imagine. In the last year, from what I can remember right now, I have been to Russia, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Germany, have successfully gotten home before Christmas when there was absolutely no hope of getting out of the wrong continent, have become a med aide and made it out alive, learned many valuable skills for the medical field including types of medications and first aid, finished another semester at BYUI and loved every minute as I am now in my major classes, have decided to become a Physician's Assistant, and have raised my academic scholarship from a quarter tuition to a half with a 3.72 GPA. That's pretty exciting when you list it out. I am so happy with my life and am so excited to see the things that will come my way in the future. As for the future of this blog, I have decided to print this as a book for myself so I can see it in the future and take a break from the picture every day. I am thinking of starting up again at the new year because it is an excellent way to journal without actually having to write everything down. But don't worry (especially you Mom) I will continue to post periodically on my other blog http://seesmarie26.blogspot.com/. Thank you so much to everyone who has been a faithful reader because although I feel I am incredibly boring, it is nice to know that other people still find me interesting enough to read what I am up to. Farewell... but only for now!

8/29 - "Packing"

Today was the day for "packing" all of Kaylynn's things in her room (we really just super deep cleaned her room but she liked calling it packing over cleaning because it was a more upbeat term). We spent most of the day doing this because Kaylynn is a little bit of a hoarder. Well, we managed to get everything cleaned and packed neatly in her closet but there had to be a little bit of excitement, right? Kaylynn found a piece of pottery that she absolutely hated (it was pretty weird) and told us that the sound of pottery dropping is a really cool sound so we had to experience it ourselves. The girls managed to climb out Danielle's window and threw it on the cement below and although she was a little disappointed with it, I have to give it to her that it is kind of cool.

8/28 - Yumm!

Another good reason for coming home? Fresh cooked goods!! My mom went on a little bit of a baking spree on Sunday and made everyone zucchini muffins and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. How delicious! Although I generally over-eat baked goods like these, I won't likely get them up at college so I am going to enjoy them as long as I can!

8/27 - Out With Dad

Okay first off, I know I look like an idiot in this picture but Dad didn't want to take a picture so I had to work with what I had. Anyways, so Saturday night I had a date with my dad to go see the fourth Pirates movie at the $3 theater in Vancouver. I just love nights out with my dad because they are so chill but always great fun enjoying a passion that we both possess - movies. I have been going on dates with him since I was at least 15 and I always look forward to them when I come home. So we had a lot of fun watching the movie especially considering we actually liked the movie. The second and third movies, in my opinion, were too confusing and dramatic so it was really nice that they kind of just started fresh with the fourth but left Jack Sparrow in it. Great night :)

8/26 - Super 8

The girls and I didn't want to just sit around at home on a Friday night so we decided to go to the $3 movie theater and see Super 8. It was a pretty good movie and we loved watching Danielle jump at the intense parts but another funny thing was the roller coaster they play before the credits at Regal Cinema. Anyone that has been there knows what one I am talking about - the one that takes you on a ride through the candy and popcorn. We were sitting on the back row and the girls immediately put their arms up and started going along with the ride. Once it was done, Danielle admitted that one day she will have the courage to do that in the middle of the theater. She's such a funny girl!

8/25 - Pop Star Canteen

After doing some cleaning at home, the girls and I headed out to do some school shopping because we are quickly running out of time before September. After hitting up Target and Walmart, we went to the mall and just looked around at everything. The funniest thing we came across was this flask in Icings. Why this makes us laugh you might ask? Danielle once said, "All you need to be a pop star is beer and a gallon of glitter!" This canteen combines both worlds into one and we can only imagine how happy Ke$ha would be to get this for Christmas!

8/24 - VooDoo Doughnuts

Shelby is a good friend of mine and we both decided that we haven't seen enough of each other while on the break and that we needed to do something to fix that. Also, I have never been to the tourist attraction VooDoo doughnuts in Portland and decided that that was one of my goals for the seven week break to make it there. Killing two birds with one stone, I took Shelby on her first ever outing in Portland and we got some VooDoo. It wasn't really anything special but it is fun to say you have been there. Our next venture is taking public transportation down to Portland and doing something else fun!

8/23 - Another Old One

Okay so here's another story that's about a week old but not every day can be exciting and I want to remember stories. After getting our family pictures taken, Dad took us out to Lower Siouxon Falls for a nice 8 mile hike that sounded freakishly long at first but ended up being a really nice hike. It wasn't hard and was next to a crystal clear river and plenty of shade from the trees. I had to laugh though because when Dad was telling us about this hike, he didn't say it was 8 miles, just that it was 4 miles in. Nice Dad, nice. Well anyways, it was a great hike and the only downer was that Kaylynn got super sick on the way out and Matthew had to give her a piggyback ride for the last 1/8 of a mile because she couldn't do it herself. She's just fine now though :)

8/22 - What You Didn't See

This is like a week old but I had to tell this story. Connor and a drain. Now those of you that know me know my intense fear of manholes or really anything that you can fall through. I was taking Connor for a walk and we came across one of these drains. It scared me a little bit to see this carefree little man walk so easily across a drain that he could fall through (which does happen!). One day I will teach him what he needs to know to stay safe in this world including avoiding holes in the ground :)

8/21 - Family Dinner

So that family dinner we all got together for... here it is and it's wonderful! I love spending time with my family especially during the summer when it is so nice and you can just be happy about everything. The house gets full of laughter and joy when everyone is here and it's so fun to butt into everyone's conversations because they are all so random and funny. Can't wait for the next one!

8/20 - Family!!

This is Aunt Denise hiding from Grandma because she surprised everyone and came up for the weekend. How fun, right?! Well, Aunt Kimm came up for a few days to see the family and we were all going to have this huge dinner on Sunday and I guess Aunt Denise wanted to be there for it so she hopped on a plane and came up for just a couple days. It was so great having her here and we had so much fun just talking and getting all caught up. I love when family gets together.

8/19 - House Sitting

Kaylynn is house sitting for her high school pottery teacher for the week and invited us to come up with her. This teacher has a super cool house up past Woodland that had a pool table, hot tub, private "beach" on Merwin Lake, lots of movies and games, and a lit up deck among many other things. It was so nice to chill in a very secluded area and just enjoy the sun and some swimming. We don't look all that great in this picture but I am fully blaming that on the fact that every time we got in and out of the hot tub, we were so relaxed that we were in a sort of limbo area. It was fantastic.

8/18 - Shopping :)

My mom and I decided that it we needed a shopping day that included me buying myself a new wardrobe to celebrate how much I have been working since I have been home. I had some serious money burning a hole in my pocket so it was fun to go spend some of it. I ended up with a ton of new clothes but what was just as exciting was that nothing I bought was over $10! My mom also ended up with a few new cute things. We also got some new decorations for the house that we both really like. I feel like I am going to be a new woman when I get back to school with all new clothes :)

8/17 - Portrait of a 16-Year-Old

Okay I know this isn't such a great picture of Danielle but I forgot to take a picture that day and needed to get something. I turned on the light at around 10:00 PM and told her to smile so I could show what a newly 16-year-old looks like. So to celebrate her big day, the family met up at a random Chinese restaurant over by the mall and had an all-you-can eat buffet while opening presents like CD's, a scarf, nail polish, and my personal favorite, a copy of Mockingjay (the third Hunger Games book) with $50 in one dollar bills spread throughout the book. Danielle was super excited for that one especially because she is always broke and I mean how fun is that?

8/16 - Family Time

This is my family. Every couple of years we manage to get together for a little bit and take a nice family picture together. The thing is though that we aren't so good at the taking nice pictures bit. The last few years we have had a picture up that is just a silly picture of us all because it was our favorite and now we love this one. We did manage to take a nice one that's up on the wall but we are planning on having this one up as well because it's just as fun. Look closely at everyone's faces and you will be laughing pretty hard. Another thing I love about this is that we aren't all matchy-matchy like lots of families do. We are all different and it shows in our clothes which I think is fantastic!

8/15 - The Wiggles Can Die

I know this is a really awkward picture and quite frankly, I am not totally sure why I took this but this is Jaylynn who is Michael and Courtney's neighbor that I watch frequently. You can't see his little sister, Brooklyn, who is eating dinner and watching The Wiggles. I think that the point of this picture is that I am watching The Wiggles and hate them so much. Their songs are incredibly irritating and I dearly hope that my children don't learn to like them (but I am sure they will).

8/14 - Family History Project

This was my 8th grade family history project. That was the year with Hallman and Hendy for teachers and was probably the best year I had in public school. These two teachers were fantastic because they were super hands-on learners so everything we did was linked to some type of project or adventure that we were always excited about. We did more work than the other classes but they still envied us because we always had parties to balance out the work. Anyways, so we had a huge family history project that included a book of like 50 pages and a big poster with artifacts to go with it. This was my poster. I still have the book but it's time to move on to better projects and throw this one away. I was so proud of it that I kept it for a very long time but I am now a senior in college and I think it's been long enough. Farewell beloved project!

8/13 - Black and White

Does this picture make you think of a popular Michael Jackson song? It does for me! So Mom, Dad, Danell, and I went to Danelle Grossnickle's wedding reception and had a nice time chatting with some members of the ward. Shelby Park ended up being there which was a nice surprise since she is always working but somehow we got on the topic of skin tones (okay so that topic actually comes up a lot). We were noticing how dark Shelby is and how white my mom is so we decided to compare the darkest part of Shelby's are and the whitest of my mom's and this was the result :S We decided though that Shelby had a head start in the womb with a tanning bed there!

8/12 - The Fair

I just love that I get to be home every year to make it to the fair because it is so fun to be around all of the white trash that goes and enjoy the random things that are there. This year, Kaylynn worked at a booth serving seafood so we all as a family went to see her and catch the demolition derby that was happening that night. We had fun wandering around and getting some classic fair food but what I didn't expect was how much we enjoyed the derby! Oh my gosh it was so great!! My dad was the only one who had ever been to one so it was a new adventure for us all. It was terribly exciting to see cars going all over the place and once you think they are for sure dead, they come back to life and kick some trash. The little cars were the most fun because they were fast and seemed to actually do the most damage because they were fast. Oh the marvelous fair!

8/11 - More and More and More Driving

This picture is my day in a nutshell. I was babysitting the Pedersons (the three girls) and today they had practices to get to. Here's the running around I had to do to get everyone where they needed to go: Take twins to tennis practice in Ridgefield - 10 minutes. Drive Natalie to volleyball practice near Camas - 30 minutes. Drive back to tennis to get girls - 30 minutes. Back to Camas to get Natalie - 30 minutes. Hit up Salmon Creek for some ice cream - 20 minutes. Back home - 20 minutes. Later: Drive home to get Danielle for her final drive in Battle Ground - 20 minutes. Drive to Battle Ground - 20 minutes. Hung around some parks until Danielle got done. Drive Danielle home - 20 minutes. Drive girls home - 20 minutes. Drive back home once their mom gets home - 20 minutes. Is that not ridiculous or what? Luckily, their mom paid me for gas as well as for babysitting. I think the worst thing about this all was listening to the same music the whole time!

8/10 - Oh Man

I set myself up for failure on this babysitting job. So I offered to babysit both Connor and their neighbor and it ended up being awful. The neighbors have a 4-year-old boy, Jaylynn, and a 1-year-old, Brooklyn. I kept everyone over at the neighbor's and the hard part was that the neighbor's don't have very many toys so they didn't have much to keep their attention. It was so hard to keep them from getting into everything or breaking things so I felt like I spent the whole time just telling the kids to stop whatever they were doing. It was a terribly frustrating night and I don't think I could ever do that again.

8/9 - Late Night

So I know you can't hardly see this at all but this is Michael and I watching "Labyrinth" late one night after I babysat for their neighbors. I don't like to use the neighbor's bathroom because it's super dirty so I always run over to Michael and Courtney's afterwards to use their's. This night, I was really tired and didn't want to drive home so I stayed and slept on their couch. Michael was already watching the movie but quickly filled me in and we spent the rest of the night laughing at the lame parts and ended up falling asleep on our own pieces of furniture.

8/8 - I'm Cool

I am at a stop light here first of all so don't worry that I am driving and taking a picture, it's just when I remembered to do it. Anyways, so I saw these bracelets online and thought they were super cute. This is a crappy version and I have improved since then but I really like it. I showed Danielle and she wanted one of her own because apparently they are in style right now. I made her one and when I was shopping the other day, I ended up in Forever 21 and noticed that they had bracelets that look a lot like the ones I made. As it turns out, my style has become "in." I never thought the day would come but the world has seen the light and that I can be cool occasionally ;)

8/7 - Beans and Chips

Whenever I come home from school, I get this feeling that I am so grateful for everything that I need to do what I can to pull my weight around the house. This includes cleaning and cooking generally. This was my latest meal and I have to say that it was dang good. It's a recipe that Christine taught me back during our first semester where you cook up hamburger, kidney beans, garbanzo beans, corn, whatever and put taco seasoning in then put it all on some chips. I just love meals you learn to make at college.

8/6 - Presents

Connor is a curious little boy and it's cute because everything he does is for a purpose. He seems to love picking these little white flowers all over our yard but the thing about this is that he will only pick the one he likes. I can't figure out what makes a good one and what makes a bad one but I have caught on that if the stem isn't long enough for him to hold with his chubby fingers, it's not good enough. We have these flowers all dried up all over our house because he picks them for everyone but it's just so cute you can't help loving it and feeling like you are the most special person in the world.

8/5 - Skate Park

Today was a babysitting day but the reality of this job is that I am really just the driver because I am just looking after a 12-year-old and twin 7-year-olds. Natalie (12) went over to a friend's house and the other two, Olivia and Meredith, had a friend of their's over. They decided they wanted to roller skate so I took them to the skate park in Ridgefield. It was kind of funny because there were a could high school boys there just hanging out on the side and the girls got all intimidated. I told them that they can take the boys and that they just need to show them who's boss. They thought that was so funny and were a little more confident because of it. They had a good time and I am glad they didn't let the boys get to them.

8/4 - Embarrassing

Kaylynn has been babysitting a lot this summer including a family in Ridgefield. She's also going to be starting her job at the fair working at a food booth so I said I would fill in for her for this family. Today, I went with her for "training" and managed to get the truck stuck there dead. It refused to start so I called up my dad and he told me he thought it was the starter. I met him back home after work and brought him back to the house to help me because apparently it would get going with a push down a hill. So we get there and started pushing when the girls ran out to help. They thought it was the best thing ever because they had never experienced old vehicles with problems (their family is very well off). We got it to the end of their road, pushed it off this really huge hill, and Dad managed to get it started thank goodness. The next day I got there to babysit and their mom thought it was great and we laughed together for a little bit.

8/3 - Sweetie

I don't really know the story behind this picture and in fact, we both look pretty stupid, but I think I took it because it was the one moment Connor would actually sit still with me. He is a very active little young man that just likes to see everything so it's rare for him to stop and chill. He's not crazy or a menace or anything like that, just curious. It's so nice when he stops with you; melts your heart like nothing else.

8/2 - Out With Mom

Mom and I decided to have a day out to just go shopping and do whatever we wanted. We didn't end up doing much but we had a good time down in Vancouver antiquing and going out to The Old Spaghetti Factory for lunch. While antiquing, I found an old safe that had a pretty funny tag on it that I felt I needed a picture of. It says, "Great Old Safe. Even big Al Capone or Willie Sutton can't get into it, maybe it's got $$ in it. $995 - You haul. Discount if you can open it." I wish I had the money to try and open it because that would be terribly exciting!

8/1 -Teeter Totter

My parents have invested in a play area since Connor came along for their future grand-kids. This includes a teeter totter for very little ones. When Connor comes over, he always wants to go for a walk to check out our chickens and go up the road to see the neighbor's horses. He also wants to go play at the play area by going on the teeter totter and the slide. The things is though that he doesn't just want to go on the teeter totter, he wants me to go on it as well. He's not satisfied with me just pushing my side down, I have to actually be sitting on my seat. It's quite awkward but you know, it makes him happy so it's worth it.

7/31 - Summer :)

My parents like to garden. We have fruit and vegetables coming out our ears because we have so much. For dinner, I decided to be helpful and make a fruit salad (I was also trying to get out of making the main dish). Look at all of that delicious fruit I was able to incorporate that we just had on hand. Watermelon, cantelope, grapes, blueberries, and we have blackberries but I just didn't pick them. The fresh fruit of summer just makes life so much better.

7/30 - Pool Party!

How cute is this?? Courtney and Michael also went up to go help with the trek so I volunteered to babysit Connor for them. He's the easiest kid in the world so I was pretty excited. We went on a few walks, did some shopping, and had this fabulous pool party. At first I think he was a little unsure what to do with the water but once I turned on some music and stuck my feet in as well, he had a ball! I just love him so much and love the time I get to spend with him creating a great aunt/nephew relationship :)

7/29 - Highlights?

Kaylynn would absolutely die if she knew that I put this up but it was my picture of the day so what else could I have done? Kaylynn decided that she wanted to have some highlights in her hair just to try it out and I said that I would do it for her so after buying the color and picking her hair through the cap, this was the result. The only problem was that she needed to leave for trek (her and Dad were going up to help out) and her hair still wasn't done. Dad left work much earlier than we anticipated so she ended up having to wash the color out early. Everyone up at trek said they loved her new color but to be perfectly honest, I don't think there's any difference and she feels the same way. I was really excited though because it was my first time highlighting (shh! Don't tell) and it wasn't a complete disaster. I have dyed hair before as in someone's whole head but never done highlighting which I apparently can now do.

7/28 - Burgerville

Once I get home, the activities begin and everyone leaves. This week was trek where Danielle was a participant and Mom went to help with the cooks. That left Dad, Kaylynn, and I to fend for ourselves so what did we do for dinner that night? Kaylynn and I made Dad take us out :) Dad's been on this serious burger kick and he didn't really want to go out to Vancouver so we ended up at Burgerville in Battle Ground. Burgerville is pretty good and it was a really nice day so it was fun to go out with my dad and sister for the night and enjoy fresh food including a raspberry shake.

7/27 - Cutie

Is it just me or is this kid just the cutest thing in the world? He looks a little crazed in this picture because when he eats, he stays with his mission but he is still such a cutie. I just love when I get to be home and can hang out with him all the time. Just to warn everyone, he will have a lot of pictures in the next month!

7/26 - Captain America

I called Michael up a few weeks ago just to see how he was doing and after a 30 minute conversation, we ended up deciding that we were going to go see Captain America when I got home. He really wanted to see it and I didn't mind going. Well, we decided on a Tuesday because it's only $5 at Regal Cinemas those days and gave ourselves enough time to see the movie before he had to get to work that afternoon. We had a lot of fun eating popcorn and watching a really good movie. Michael LOVED it! I always think it's fun to go out on a "date" with a sibling and was glad to have the opportunity to go with Michael.

7/25 - What A Good Feeling

Look at that! Look at that!! During school, I need a way to see exactly what I need to do in each class which is usually just the one sticky note on my computer on the top right. During finals week, it got a little crazy and I needed to have multiples so I could keep up. I got through the semester and now had time to clean up my computer and this is what it ended up looking like and I was in love. There's a note for current homework, finals, long term projects, and what I need to take home. All are clear of anything I needed to do. How nice!!

7/24 - Sunday Afternoons

Sunday afternoons are the best at home. Michael, Courtney, and Connor come over a lot and we all get to be together as a family and just chill, enjoying each other's company. We sometimes get bored though and then creativity comes along to cure this problem. Quite often Connor gets to be the one to take on this job. So he has these little play balls that he likes (there's one on the bottom right) and one day, my mom decided to shove one up his shirt. Well, one thing led to another and he ended up with a bajillion up his shirt which was just darling because he ended up looking all muscly especially for a 1 year old!

7/23 - Heading Home

School's out so it's time to head home for 7 weeks to chill until it's time to go back and start again on September 12th. I just love the 7 week break because it's perfect weather and you get to just enjoy life and get re-excited for school. I got to ride home with my good friend Shelby Park and we had a great time chatting away about all aspect of our lives. 12 hours is a very long drive but it's so much more barable with a good friend :)

7/22 - School's Out!!

Another semester down! In celebration of making it through the Spring 2011 semester, Molly, Genesis, Morgan, and I decided to head out to St. Anthony to see the second half of the seventh Harry Potter movie at this cool new (actually a remodeled old building) theater called The Roxy. It was such a great movie - much better than I thought it would be. Afterwards, we hit up Broulim's for a late night snack then headed home for some more movie watching to finish off the semester since we were all leaving the next day. How fun!

7/21 - Out To Lunch

Lunch dates are my favorite. I mean dinner is great and all but it's not everyday that you get the chance to go out to lunch. Well, Christine texted me asking if we wanted to get a group together to go out to lunch and it ended up being just us and our old roommate Tracie Tanner. We ended up at Teriyaki Express at the old Hogi Yogi building which is a most delicious place. Their sauce is to die for. Anyways, we had a ton of fun that afternoon eating good food and reminiscing about the past. Good friends are a wonderful thing!

7/20 - TB Test

A few weeks ago, I got online to check my assignments and stuff like that and there was a quiz I needed to take. I thought it was a little odd but did it anyways. It asked five questions about where you have been and I was all excited about being able to check off places like Russia, Estonia, Sweden, etc. Once I was done, it pops up with this message and I realize that I had been tricked. Since I had been to those places, I was now required to get a tuberculosis test done. I wouldn't really mind except that I had already gotten one at work back home after traveling so I knew I didn't have TB. Oh well, now I am extra sure I am safe :)

7/19 - Assignment

My Spirituality in the Arts class likes to have Show and Tell where the teacher says something like find a musical piece of art that is religious to some religion and bring it in for the class to hear. It's actually pretty cool because we spend the whole class doing this - just listening or looking at art. Well our last show and tell for the semester was to bring in an LDS work of art than compare it to a talk explaining whether it is a step forward in general art or step back. That probably doesn't really makes sense but anyways, this is the piece of art I brought in. It's called "Every Knee Shall Bow" by J. Kirk Richards and I absolutely love it! I was a little nervous to show it because I loved it so much and didn't want the class to hate it but everyone went crazy for it! One day I want to get a copy for my future house :)

7/18 - Cragio's

I love the last week of school for another reason other than just going off of nothing. I also like it because everyone wants to party because they know they won't see each other for a while. On that note, Shelby texted me and invited me to go to Craigo's with her and some friends. It was a great night and we had a lot of fun eating everything we could stuff in our bodies to take advantage of the buffet we paid for.

7/17 - Makeshift Potluck

The end of semesters always crack me up. Not only are people crazy with finals, they refuse to buy ANYTHING because they are just going to have to throw it out later when they have to pack up and move. This makes the last week hilarious food-wise because you never know what people are going to come up with to eat just to use up some food. That's why this meal made it onto my blog. I wish I could have gotten a better picture but I was sitting in a corner and couldn't really get out and do better. We decided to have an apartment potluck for our Sunday dinner where we all bring things that we needed eaten up. There were things like mashed potatoes, homemade bread, green beans, fajita chicken with onions and green peppers, and chicken made another way that I can't remember. I wish I could remember some other things because it was pretty random. Also, notice the paper plates and plastic cups we are using!

7/16 - Closing Social

It's that time of the year again - closing ward social time!!! This is the best ward activity I have ever been to and I look forward to it every year. I was in charge of it last year which was fun but it was also good this year to just go and enjoy. What's so great about this party is that it's all about relaxation right before finals week. We meet at the 1st counselor's house and enjoy tubing down his canal (many, many times), catering, volleyball, and sunshine. I always end up staying for like 5 hours even though I have tons of homework to do.

7/15 - Presentation

Ta-Da!! Here's our cell phone all done!! We had our presentation on Friday and it went great! We started it out with Kelsey in the hall (everyone knew there was something big with our presentation but not what) and me reading a "scary" part of a book in the dark about how cell phones cause cancer. Once I was done, I turned on the lights and Kelsey ran in with a squirt bottle yelling things like, "Fear me! I emit radiation!" and spraying everyone with water. It was great! From then on, we had a really funny presentation and everyone loved it all. In fact, every time another presentation went up, someone would yell, "Can you beat the cell phone?" meaning can they do better? Everyone admitted no. This is the best presentation I have had through all of my college career! P.S. Funny story with this picture. Kelsey and I decided to take some last pictures in the suit and as we were doing that, one of our other teachers came out who knew about this presentation and all he said was, "You guys are sooo weird!" over and over again. He loves us and can't wait to have us both in his class next semester!!

7/14 - Found

So I found this picture and wanted to show it off which I felt was okay to do on a random Tuesday. Back in May I went on a field trip with my Spirituality in the Arts class down to Provo to see a couple art museums including the Carl Bloch exhibit at BYU. It didn't take nearly as long to see everything as we planned so we had the opportunity to look at the other exhibits which included a really cool war poster exhibit. My favorite was that I was able to see original Norman Rockwell posters where he actually signed them. I love Norman Rockwell's posters and what a great thing to just happen upon some originals.

7/13 - Lesson?

While cleaning at work, I came across this giant tub of silly putty in the geology department conference room. Now I may be just a silly girl but I have no idea what the productive use of this item is and I would really like to learn the truth. It's not big enough for a class to use (which I still don't know what kind of demonstration that would be) so I think the teachers actually use it for fun. How odd.

7/12 - Done

Remember that cardboard hunt I went on? Well, the reason for it was because Kelsey and I decided to make a giant cell phone costume for our presentation on cell phones and how they affect cancer. One of the requirements was to have a visual aid so we went a little crazy and have a rockin visual aid that will surprise the whole class. It's funny because we have seen other presentations and they just bring stupid things to put on the table, nothing terribly exciting. Anyways, so the story of this picture is that we made the phone at Kelsey's apartment but I had to finish it up at my own so we had to drive it there somehow. The problem was that it didn't fit in the car. The solution was to have it sideways with me inside and then I would just have to hold one door as shut (it wouldn't close all the way) as I could without falling out on the turns. It was rather exciting and luckily it was dark so we didn't get pulled over!
