6/16 - Artichoke

Who eats these things?? Okay actually I love them but not when I have to cook them myself. I got an artichoke in our Bountiful Basket and had the half our needed to cook it so I started my first adventure in the art of cooking artichokes. What an awkward experience! First you have to steam it forever, then you have to drain it, then take the leaves and dip them in a dip of choice. The problem is that I don't have anything good to dip it in so I made a margarine/garlic dip which wasn't terribly great but that's cool. The life of a college student I guess. The funny part was that we had just barely added a new roommate to our apartment and this was basically her first experience with me - freaking out about how weird it is to cook an artichoke. She still tells me that that was a funny day and that she grew to like me that day!
